Dr. Migen Dibra: In memoriam
On February 18, 2024, Migen Dibra passed away.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Dr. Migen Dibra, a luminary in the field of law whose remarkable contributions have left an indelible mark on the legal profession. Dr. Dibra received the Montreal Bar Award for Excellence in Civil Law in 2003, and her expertise spanned both Civil and Common Law domains. As a distinguished member of the Quebec Bar, she was deeply involved in various organizations, including the Women in the Legal Profession Committee of the Montreal Bar and the Consulting Committee of Businesspeople of Carrefour. Dr. Dibra's impact extended far beyond the confines of her legal practice; she served as the Chair of the FLOGEN SIPS Law Symposium from 2011 to 2023, further cementing her legacy as a leader in her field.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Dibra demonstrated unparalleled excellence and versatility. In academia, she published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prestigious law journals worldwide, showcasing her intellectual acumen and dedication to advancing legal scholarship. Her doctoral thesis, a monumental work spanning 761 pages, examined the rights of employees during mergers and acquisitions, offering invaluable insights into this complex legal landscape.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Dibra made significant contributions to court-related research, notably preparing a comprehensive guide for the Quebec Court of Appeal judges. Her meticulous attention to detail and depth of knowledge were evident in every aspect of her work, earning her the respect and admiration of her peers.
In the courtroom, Dr. Dibra's advocacy skills were unparalleled. She successfully pleaded several cases across all levels of the Quebec courts, achieving notable victories even against formidable opponents. Her unwavering commitment to justice and tireless advocacy for her clients set her apart as a formidable force in the legal arena.
Dr. Migen Dibra's passing leaves a profound void in the legal community. Still, her legacy will endure as a testament to her exceptional intellect, unwavering integrity, and boundless passion for the law. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
