Dr. Florian Kongoli had the honor of delivering a lecture on the FLOGEN Sustainability Framework at The Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in Brazil. Prof. Paulo Assis chaired the event and graciously introduced him to the audience. UFOP, established in 1839, is the oldest university in Brazil and is renowned for its excellence in various fields, particularly mining and metallurgy engineering, archaeology, and social sciences. He had the privilege of being welcomed by such a prestigious institution.

Dr. Florian Kongoli had the pleasure of meeting with Prof. Jose Alberto Naves Cocota Jr., the Director of the School of Mining at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in Brazil. Their discussion centered around university mining research, sustainability, and the upcoming SIPS Assis International Symposium. Prof. Jorge Bréscia and Prof. Paulo Assis from UFOP were also present, as well as Márcio Abdo de Freitas from the Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB). They had a fruitful exchange of ideas and collaboration.

He had the pleasure of meeting with Prof. Herminio Arias Nalini Júnior, the Vice Rector of the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in Brazil. Their discussion revolved around university research, sustainability, and the upcoming SIPS Assis International Symposium. Also present in the meeting were Antoninho Tavares Dos Santos and Márcio Abdo de Freitas from the Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB), as well as Prof. Paulo Assis and Prof. Jorge Bréscia from UFOP. They had a productive conversation with valuable insights and collaboration.

Meeting with Prof. Wilson Jose Guerra, the Director of the Department of Environment and Geology of Petroleum at Gorceix Foundation, was a pleasure in his office in Ouro Preto. Along with Prof. Paulo Assis, they had a great discussion and enjoyed his humor. They also had an exciting tour of the departments, where they learned about a new sustainable applied research initiative. This initiative aims to use dam waste material to build construction bricks and provide additional iron pellets to the steel industry.
