2022 SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING SUMMIT AND EXHIBITION
SIPS 2022 - Sustainable Industrial Processing Summit & Exhibition was held in Phuket, Thailand from 27
Nov-1 Dec 2022 at the Hilton Arcadia Hotel.
Following the rich tradition of previous years, the summit covered three actors
of sustainability: (1) Science, Technology, and Industry (2) Governance and Management, and (3) Education and Civil
Society.
This year, the summit honored the 2022 STARS of sustainable science, technology, and innovation. In alphabetical order,
they are:
9 Nobel Laureates attended the summit.
Dr. Florian Kongoli, President of SIPS and President of FLOGEN, in a roundtable discussion with Nobel Laureates Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis and Prof. Dan Shechtman.
The honorees cover areas of materials sciences that appear distinct, but are all mutually related and share a common
theme of sustainability.
The summit was addressed by prominent figures from industrial companies, politics, university education and Research Institutions from all over the world. Furthermore, distinguished figures were honored in a special Gala event where they are presented with awards in recognition of their lifelong achievements in cultivating sustainability. 16 awards were granted this year: Fray International Sustainability Award, Geim International Innovation Award, Lee International Law Award, Stoddart International Scientific Award, Wuthrich International Young Star Award, Von Klitzing International Engineering Award, Shechtman International Leadership Award, Murad International Life Improvement Award, Yildirim International Entrepreneurship Award, Novoselov International Materials Award, Marcus International Managing Award, Hershko International Biochemistry Award, Ciechanover International Biology Award, Whittingham International Energy Award, International Life in Universe Award, and Robert’s International Medicine Award.

The summit had an Opening Event, three Summit Plenary sessions, and a Summit Gala that combined with 9 Nobel
Prize Winners along with:
- Politicians reflecting the importance of the political framework;
- CEOs of major industrial companies reflecting the role of applied technology and management;
- Well-known academics reflecting the role of education for an engaged society;
- Research institutes reflecting the role of base technologies.
