Prof. Dan Shechtman, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Prof. Dan Shechtman, Technion Institute of Technology and Iowa State University, was honored by FLOGEN with the 2014 Fray International Sustainability Award (Official Award Web site here) and with the entire Sustainable Industrial Processing Summit (SIPS 2014) held in Cancun, Mexico, June-July 2014 (Official Web site here)


Dr. Florian Kongoli, President of SIPS and President of FLOGEN, awarding Professor Dan Shechtman, Technion Institute of Technology and Iowa State University, 2011 Nobel Prize Winner, with the FLOGEN 2014 Fray International Sustainability Award

Following the footsteps of other FLOGEN award recipients who have subsequently achieved further recognition, Professor Dan Shechtman, was awarded in November/December 2018 an Honorary Doctorate from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for his outstanding achievements in the field of quasicrystals. During the ceremony were present the ambassadors of USA, Israel and India as well as the General Consuls of Germany and Russia in Greece.

DR. FLORIAN KONGOLI DELIVERS PLENARY LECTURE AT SHECHTMAN-SURESH CONVOCATION & HONORARY SYMPOSIUM 359

The lecture was given at the Shechtman-Suresh honorary symposium that accompanied the ceremony of awarding a honorary doctorate from the rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to Prof. Danny Shechtman and Prof. Subra Suresh. In the ceremony were present Ambassadors of Israel and India) and General Consuls of Germany and Russia in Greece. Dr Florian Kongoli also chaired the session Technology – Arts – Music & Society.
