Dr. Mariia Kaidash is a Ukrainian chemist. Currently she is a research fellow at the State Scientific Institution Institute for Single Crystals of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the city of Kharkiv. Her scientific interest focuses on the design and development of biologically active substances for the implementation in pharmacology.
Mariia Kaidash (born Miliutina) has earned her BSc in 2009 and in 2010 has graduated from Kharkiv National University with MSc degree in medicinal chemistry. Directly after that she was invited to complete her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Peter Langer at the University of Rostock, Germany. In 2020 Mariia Kaidash was awarded the Dr. rer. nat. degree for work in organic chemistry contributing to the chemistry of chromones and their aza-analogous quinolones. The purpose of the PhD thesis is the development of new convenient and efficient methods for the synthesis of potentially useful products for treatment of human diseases such as cancer and atherosclerotic lesions. The majority of the synthetic methods developed by Dr. Mariia Kaidash are based on complementary bound-forming nucleophilic reactions, i. e. domino reactions and recyclization reactions, which refer to the methods of green chemistry with minimal energy consumption, diminished time and waste rates. The products obtained in the work have found their applications in independent researches focused on the development of selective inhibitors of ecto-nucleotidase isozymes and anticancer agents where they have demonstrated a high level of activity.
Besides of the scientific activities Dr. Mariia Kaidash was involved in the work of international analytical organizations, performing quality control of pollutants and veterinary drug residues in foods for humans, in domestic utility items and environmental components surrounding our habitat.
