      • processing of complex iron ores containing titanium, vanadium, nickel, chromium, and alumina;
      • physical and chemical properties of metal and slag melts;
      • mathematical modeling of pyrometallurgical processes: gas dynamics, heat exchange, reduction, softening and melting, slag formation
    2. Technologies of materials
      • basic technology of pyrometallurgical processes: coke production, agglomeration, pellet production, blast furnace production, steel production, ferroalloy production, direct iron production, lime production;
      • processing of complex iron ores containing titanium, vanadium, nickel, chromium, and alumina;
      • quality of iron ore raw materials, coke, ferroalloys and ways to improve them,
      • assessment of the effect of the quality of raw materials on the technical and economic index of pyrometallurgical units;

    3. Industrial development
      • reconstruction of metallurgical furnaces;
      • new ways of pyrometallurgical processes control;
      • improving the technology of smelting iron, steel and alloys (ferroalloys).
    4. Energy efficiency, environmental safety and risk management
      • extension of the campaign of metallurgical units;
      • reducing of fuel consumption in pyrometallurgical units;
      • utilization of man-made waste;
      • energy saving and environmental protection.
