Short Bio:
Professor Akihisa Inoue is a world-leading material scientist and a pioneer in the development of Bulk
Metallic Glasses and Advanced Non-Equilibrium Materials. He carried out his career at Tohoku University,
Japan, serving as a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Director of the Institute for Materials
Research (IMR) and as President of Tohoku University before becoming an Emeritus Professor in 2012.
Presently, he serves as a Special Advisor to the Chancellor, and as the Director of International Institute of
Green Materials, Josai University Educational Corporation, in Tokyo. He is also the Head of the Advanced
Green Materials Laboratory, at National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” in Moscow, Russia
and directs research at the Advanced Metallic Materials Institute of Tianjin University in China.
