Short Bio:

Professor R.M.G. Rajapakse is a Senior Professor in Chemistry and the Coordinator of Nanotechnology Degree Programmes in Sri Lanka. He has over 35 years of university teaching and research in areas spanning electrochemistry, catalysis, photo-electrochemistry, electronically conducting polymers, metal, semiconductor and insulator nanomaterials, solar cells, fuel cells, supercapacitors, biomaterials, etc. He obtained his Ph.D. and D.I.C. from Imperial College, London (1985-1998) in photo-electrochemistry and post-doctoral research in colloidal semiconductor-electronically conducting polymer composites (1989-1991). In 1991, he joined Department of Chemistry, University of Peradeniya, as a Senior Lecturer-II and rose to Full Professor (1999) and Senior Professor (2007). He leads a multi-disciplinary research group and collaborates with ten Sri Lankan industries, produced over 50 M.Phil./Ph.D. graduates, published 145 indexed publications and over 250 in total, given over 30 keynote and invited lectures, obtained 2 granted patents, 4 to be granted soon, an h-index of 32, and received over 30 prestigious awards. He collaborates with Imperial College, UMIST-DIAS, Universities of Bath, Central Lancashire, Liverpool, and Newcastle in the UK, NREL and Universities of Texas at Arlington, Mississippi and Temple in the USA, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and Shizuoka University, Japan. He was instrumental in establishing Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology.
