Short Bio:Maude Jimenez is Professor at Lille University in France. She graduated from the National School of Chemistry of Lille (ENSCL, Lille, France) in 2003 and obtained the same year a research master degree in organic and macromolecular chemistry. She defended her PhD in 2006 on the development of intumescent coatings for steel structures, in partnership with a British company. She then got a position as assistant professor in Lille University (France) in the Unit of Materials and Transformations (UMET) to develop surface treatments for flame retardant applications, but also for biomaterials, glass treatments and antifouling applications. She obtained in 2013 the French “Habilitation to supervise research” (HDR) and became in 2016 Professor in Lille University. She works on the design and understanding of mechanism of action of various surface treatments (coatings, plasma, layer-by-layer, sol-gel, etc.), mainly for flame retardant and antifouling applications. She has extended her research in the study of the functional durability and life cycle analysis of the coatings she develops and she is looking at potential solutions to overcome these ageing issues and improve their environmental print. Dr. Jimenez has published about 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. She has many industrial and academic projects and collaborations in France and in various countries (USA, Luxembourg, Canada, Iran, Spain, Malaysia, etc.). Finally, she got in 2019 the distinction of Junior member of Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) for her research in surface treatment engineering. She is also editor of the Journal of Material Sciences. |
