Noam Agmon received a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1980, with R.D. Levine). Following post-doctoral training at Harvard (D.R. Herschbach) and Caltech (J.J. Hopfield), he has joined the faculty of the Institute of Chemistry at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1983), where he is a professor of physical and theoretical chemistry. His research centered on kinetics of biophysical reactions, diffusion-influenced reactions, excited-state proton transfer, proton transport in water and within proteins, the green fluorescent protein, water- and protonated-water clusters and their IR spectra.
