Short Bio:Xanthippi Markenscoff (Ph.D. Princeton University, Dipl. Civil Eng, Nat. Tech. Univ. Athens) is Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. She is an expert in Solid Mechanics and in particular the elastodynamics of defects in solids. She has been a Vis. Miller Professor at UC Berkeley, a Distinguished Springer Professor in Mechanical Engineering At UC Berkeley, a Visiting Professor (Research) at Brown University, a Vis. Directeur de Recherche at Ecole Polytechnique, Paris , France, Vis. Senior Fellow at Christ Church College, Oxford University, and an Honorary Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics at Saint -Petersbourg State University, Russia. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Engineering Sciences. She has recently solved the dynamic generalization of the seminal Eshelby ellipsoidal inclusion problem. |
