Short Bio:Study and PhD in physics at universities of Würzburg, Grenoble, and FAU University Erlangen-Nürnberg, thesis "Electronic properties of diamond interfaces" supervised by L. Ley. Since 2001: permanent assistant lecturer and scientist in the group of Prof. Dr. H.-P. Steinrück at the FAU Chair of Physical Chemistry II leading the research group "Ionic Liquid Surface Science", which addresses the liquid/vacuum and liquid/solid interface of ionic liquids (ILs). Using an interdisciplinary approach, the fundamental relations between the chemical structure of known and new ILs and their bulk and surface/interface properties as well as their reactivity are studied using surface science methods in ultra-high vacuum, in particular angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The most recent work is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant since 2016. (~ 70 publications, H-factor 28, see also https://www.chemistry.nat.fau.eu/maier-group/publications/) |
