Short Bio:Paul F. McMillan is Ramsay Professor of Chemistry at University College London. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at Arizona State University (1981). He remained there until 2000 when he moved to London to establish research programmes in solid state chemistry and high pressure science. Other research interests include the study of amorphous materials including polyamorphism and liquid-liquid phase transitions, and high pressure biophysics and biology. His work on carbon nitrides began in Arizona and now extends to developing these materials for energy applications and as nanomaterials. He received a Wolfson-Royal Society Research Merit Award (2001-2006) and an EPSRC Senior Research Fellowship (2006-2011), and received the Solid State Chemistry award (2003), and the Peter Day award (2011) from the Royal Society of Chemistry. |
