Short Bio:Prof. Igor Flerov, 77, graduated in Leningrad Technological Institute of Refrigeration Industry, Leningrad, USSR. Since 1966 and up to now he works at the Kirensky Institute of Physics of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. At first he was engaged in engineering work, creating a cryogenic station and developing cryostats at the Institute. His scientific career began in 1969 after his transfer to the laboratory of crystal physics, headed by academician K.A. Aleksandrov, at the same Institute. Career: Period: 1966 – 2019 Previous and present positions: Engineer (1966-1974) Junior scientist (1974-1983) Senior scientist (1983-1995) Leading scientist (1995-2003) Head of laboratory (2003-2008) Chief Researcher (from 2008) Degrees: 1978 – Ph.D degree, 1994 – Dr. Sci. degree. 2006 – Professor Specialization (i) main field: Physics of condensed matter including thermodynamic properties and caloric effects; (ii) other fields: Solid state chemistry and thermal properties; (iii) current research interest: Relations between structure, composition, thermodynamic; properties and phase transitions of ferroics including complex fluorides.
