Short Bio:

Dr Allal BARROUG is a Professor at Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech in Morroco. He has completed a Bachelor of chemistry (1979) from Mohamed V University of Rabat in Morocco, a Third Cycle Doctorate (1982) on materials science from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in France, and a PhD (1989) on chemistry of interfaces from the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve in Belgium. The research interests of Dr Allal BARROUG focus on the synthesis and characterization of apatitic calcium phosphate materials and bio-composites, the understanding and control of their surface reactivity with respect to molecules of biological interest, and the development of new biomaterials for medical applications, such as bone replacement or repair as well as drug delivery systems. The research activities deal also with the field of phosphate materials and derivatives in relation with natural resources valorization and environmental applications. His awards from the Fulbright scholar program and his grants from the Children’s Hospital of Boston took him as a senior research scientist to the Boston Children’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School in USA, to work with Professor M.J. GLIMCHER on the development of biomaterials based on apatite calcium phosphates as Local Delivery Systems for anti-cancer drugs. Dr Allal BARROUG has supervised several doctoral theses and published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals and conferences proceedings, and he is serving as a reviewer of many reputed journals.
