Oxygen is used more and more in combustion systems technologies, like oxygen burners, oxygen lancing, or oxygen enrichment, in order to increase the capacity or conserve energy in particular furnaces, Oxyfuel is used to provide discrete oxygen rich areas in a furnace to allow complete combustion separately from a reducing zone or lower the emission volumes. This article analyzes the possibilities and the advantages of oxygen application in different furnaces used for steel production, based on Messer results and literature review.
