Curriculum Vitae:
Katerina Aifantis obtained her Master's from the University of Cambridge and her PhD from the University of Groningen at 21, being the youngest PhD holder ever in the Netherlands. After a research position at Harvard, she was the youngest recipient (at 24) of the prestigious European Research Council Starting Grant (1.5 million USD) for performing research in nanotechnology with applications in energy and biology at Aristotle University and the University of Erlangen. Upon completion of this five-year program, in 2013, she joined the University of Arizona as an associate professor, holding joint appointments in Materials Science, Biomedical and Civil Engineering. Her main research interests include: nanomaterials and nanoparticles with applications in energy and biology. She has authored fifty articles and has co-authored/edited the book 'High Energy Density Lithium-Ion Batteries' with the leading publisher in the field Wiley-VCH, also translated in Chinese.
